biography
Sarai graduated from Stella Mann Performing Arts College in 2006, after studying for a National Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre. She majored in classical dance after successfully being awarded a DADA scholarship.
Following her graduation, Sarai performed professionally as a contemporary/classical dancer in various stage productions including dancing as a member of "The Tuca Dance Company" between 2007 – 2011. Other performances include "Couture" for "Mahogany" at Salon International Exhibitions (Excel Centre, London), where Sarai performed as a dancer in 2012 and 2013.
Sarai became a mentor to a forum of young people working on an online interactive drama called l8r (BAFTA award 2008), she also mentored an ‘Urban Dance’ youth group in Hackney, London. In recognition of this work she was presented the ‘Peer Education Award’ at the 10th Hackney Youth Awards in 2009.
Sarai also featured as a classical dancer and actor in a number of music videos and short films including, "Time to Wander" by Gypsy and the Cat (Sony Music Productions), a short film for "The Illusionists" by Rosie Thomas (Publisher HarperCollins), various artists signed to Sony Music Label and in 2018 for singer-songwriter Hattie Briggs (Fender Undiscovered Artist of the Year in 2017) for her "Early Girl" official music video.
Sarai’s love for classical ballet was intensified when she performed with "Ballet for You" (2013, 2015 and 2017) in their
classical ballet repertoire performances, which included Swan Lake, Giselle, Coppelia, Sleeping Beauty,
Don Quixote and original works.
More recently re-focusing her career, Sarai qualified as a classical ballet teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance in 2019. She has been teaching children at "Firststeps School of Dance" under Kit Dickinson AISTD, ARAD, Dip. PDTD since May 2017. Alongside this, Sarai specialises in teaching adults and has been teaching at "Ballet for You" under Serena Cundari ARAD, PDTD since April 2016. In 2021, Sarai started her own adult ballet classes aimed at the over 55s. The weekly RAD Silver Swans classes are based in Leighton Buzzard.
Most recently in October 2021, Sarai has collaborated as a classical dancer with Mann Bros Media and New York based artist "Nell Bryden" on her new single "I am the Storm". Sarai has also released a new creative choreography piece "Fighting Sleep" captured on film in 2022. "Fighting Sleep" was created in collaboration with composer and musician "Jas Scott" and classical dancer "Klaudyna Pawlicka".
Sarai had the opportunity to dance underwater for a SpaceAcre music video for their new single 'Familiar'. This was also a collaboration with the Mann Bros Media. Please watch the creative works in the video links below!
Sarai has also created some original choreography for a short dance film 'Say' - collaborating with Alt-Rock duo SpaceAcre, creative Theatre Director Georgie Staight, film production team Mann Bros Media and musician, composer and classical dancer David Wallace. She will performing alongside David Wallace in the original creative piece 'Say' and it will be released
in 2023.
